In Memoriam : Jordi Pitarque (2010-2020)
In the summer of 2010, Santi Castillejo as coach and Gerard Escoda as Technical Secretary were part of the technical staff that CF Reus Deportiu, chaired by Ramon Alabart, played in the 3rd Division of state football, within Group V. Until then, Reus Deportiu had disputed some seasons of the 80s in the Second Division B, as well as 2002/03 and 2005/06. In the 2006/07 season, a Reus Deportiu with a lot of euros did not get promotion to Segunda «B», and technicians such as González or Calderé had abandoned the red-and-black ship at the hands of the «inexperienced» Castillejo and Escoda, and with many Camp de Tarragona players.
Normally, those who talk about football say that the players in the demarcation "have no level" and that is why it is common to see 19 or 20 players who are not from Camp de Tarragona in squads such as Nàstic de Tarragona or Reus Deportiu during the years of Second «A» between 2016 and 2019. But nothing could be further from the truth, that extraordinary team with Alvaro, Carrasco, Ferran, Taranilla, Masqué, Querol and that was a team of people from the house and from the demarcation formed the one that until now it is and will be the best CF Reus Deportiu team of all time, and the starting point was the tragic death of Jordi Pitarque and Ceprià on September 6, 2010. Since then, the men prepared for Santi Castillejo conspired to dedicate him to in «Pitae» something big, and boy yes, they succeeded.
Reus Deportiu finished in fourth position at the end of the regular season, and thus got the ticket for the promotion play-offs, in which they were used to failure (2007 Betis, 2008 Sangonera or 2009 Binissalem). But that 2011 the players had a mental challenge such as getting promotion and dedicating themselves to Pitae, and rivals like Universidad de Oviedo, Nàxara CD and finally Comarca de Níjar ended up biting the dust, and the red-and-blacks achieved the ascent. A team made up of people from the territory was the best CF REUS DEPORTIVO team of all time, and without a doubt, thanks to an Angel who heavenly guided them: Jordi Pitarque Ceprià. Today we have remembered the 10th anniversary of Jordi's transfer, and his friends have held a brotherhood meeting, and CF Reus Deportiu has stopped competing almost 1 year and 7 months ago, and all thanks to an investment group of people from FC Barcelona such as Joan Oliver, Xavier Sala i Martin, and even Jan Laporta himself, who in the summer of 2013 landed in red-and-black territory to transform a historic entity like red-and-black, into an SAD, and later managed to reach to professional football, but with disastrous sports and social management, they managed to get the League on January 28, 2019 -in a historic and unprecedented event- to impose the sanction of imminent expulsion from the competition, and 3 years without being able to participate again in professional soccer. The leaders with a Barça past, far from trying to find a solution, looked for a buyer from the US, to whom they transferred the problem in exchange for one euro. Even so, the experience of the 2010/11 season will always be in our retinas. Thanks Pitah! Thank you Santi and Gerard. Thanks to all the players and members of the coaching staff, and thanks to Ramon Alabart.
