The best team of CF Reus Deportiu of all time is the one that Santi Castillejo coached in the 2010-11 season and that got the promotion to the Second Division “B”. That team was sworn in on September 6, 2010 to secure promotion, and would dedicate it to Jordi Pitarque i Ceprià.
In the summer of 2010 Santi Castillejo as coach and Gerard Escoda as technical secretary were part of the coaching staff that CF Reus Deportiu, chaired by Ramon Alabart, played in the 3rd Division of state football, within Group V. Reus Deportiu until then he had played some seasons in the 1980s in Second Division B, as well as 2002/03 and 2005/06. In the 2006/07 season a Reus Deportiu with many euros did not get the promotion to Second “B”, and technicians like Gonzàlez or Calderé had left the red-and-black boat in the hands of the “inexperienced” Castillejo and Escoda, and with many players from the Camp de Tarragona.
Usually, those who talk about football say that the players of the demarcation “do not have a level” and that is why it is common to see 19 or 20 players who are not from the Camp de Tarragona in squads such as Nàstic de Tarragona or Reus Deportiu in the years of Second “A” between 2016 and 2019. But nothing could be further from the truth, that extraordinary team with Alvaro, Carrasco, Ferran, Taranilla, Masqué, Querol and that was a team of people from the house and the demarcation formed the which so far is and will be the best team of all time at CF Reus Deportiu, and the starting point was the tragic death of Jordi Pitarque i Ceprià on September 6, 2010. Since then the men prepared by Santi Castillejo have they conspired to dedicate something great to “Pitae”, and yes, they did.
Reus Deportiu finished in fourth place at the end of the regular season, and thus got the ticket for the promotion qualifiers, in which it was used to failure (2007 at Betis, 2008 at Sangonera or 2009 at Binissalem). . But in 2011 the players had a mental challenge such as getting promoted and dedicating themselves to Pitae, and rivals like Universidad de Oviedo, Nàxara CD and finally the Comarca de Níjar ended up biting the dust, and the red-and -Black achieved promotion. A team made up of people from the area was the best team of all time at CF REUS DEPORTIU, and without a doubt, thanks to an Angel who guided them heavenly: Jordi Pitarque Ceprià. Today we remember the 10th anniversary of Jordi’s transfer, and his friends had a brotherhood meeting, and CF Reus Deportiu stopped competing almost 1 year and 7 months ago, all thanks to an investment group of people of FC Barcelona like Joan Oliver, Xavier Sala and Martin, and even Jan Laporta himself, who in the summer of 2013 landed in red-and-black territory to transform a historic entity like the red-and-black, into an SAD, and later managed to reach professional football, but with a disastrous sports and social management, they managed that on January 28, 2019 La Liga -in a historic and unprecedented event- imposed the sanction of imminent expulsion from the competition, and 3 years without being able to participate in professional football again. Leaders with a Barça past, far from trying to find a solution, looked for a buyer in the United States, to whom they transferred the problem in exchange for one euro. However, we will always have the experience of the 2010/11 season in our retinas. Thanks Pitae! Thanks Santi and Gerard. Thanks to all the players and members of the technical cost, and thank you Ramon Alabart.
